Who said you can’t be in two countries at once?!

Detian Transnational Waterfall (border of Vietnam & China)

Hey hey,

So here is another episode from my travel adventures.

When I lived in China, I tried my best to travel as much as I could.  I was visiting a different city almost every two weeks or sometimes even a different country every month.

One of my adventures were to a Chinese city called, Nanning, South of China.  This city is over 300km away from the border of Vietnam. So of course my friend and I road-tripped to Vietnam from China.

Nanning is beautiful and set in the countryside.  It looks very much like Vietnam with the mountains and rice paddy fields. The lush green fields and super clean air (my body almost went into shock as it was so used to the smog filled Wuhan air). The weather in Nanning is extremely hot, humid, disgusting* sticky weather (*read Durban Summer weather).

The border has a transnational waterfall (Detian Waterfall) which is said to be the largest transnational waterfall in Asia.  The waterfall is over 200 meters wide and has a drop of more than 70 meters. Interestingly enough, the waterfall/river separates China & Vietnam.  It is the border of the two countries.

Wooden rafts can be hired from the dock on the right

I am standing in China and looking across at Vietnam (which is on the other side of the river)

Half the river (length ways) belongs to Vietnam and half belong to China.
